About us

Hi, I’m Dax

Expert consulting and applications services from Dax Hamilton, a 15+ year veteran of the industry.

Headshot of Dax Hamilton, laser plastic welding expert and founder of Dax Research.

Cut through the noise

I’m Dax Hamilton—a laser-plastic-welding specialist who has spent the past 15 years turning ambitious concepts into production-ready realities. In that time I’ve advised thousands of engineers and program managers, guiding hundreds of projects to the factory floor and generating more than $50 million in finished production solutions.

My career spans semiconductor manufacturing, a stint running my own machine shop, and leadership roles on sales and applications teams at multiple laser-welding OEMs—including the application lab and equipment business I founded myself. That 360° experience lets me serve as an unbiased guide in an industry where customers are often left to decipher vendor-specific capabilities and sales pitches on their own.

Today I operate as an independent consultant out of a fully equipped lab that matches—and frequently surpasses—the toolsets of most machine builders:

  • Laser sources: 1 µm, 1.7 µm, 2 µm, plus specialty wavelengths
  • Machine-vision inspection — protected by my own patent
  • In-house CNC machining & industrial 3-D printing for rapid, custom tooling

Because everything lives under one roof, you can move from CAD file to validated weld recipe without ping-ponging between equipment suppliers. Once the process is proven in my lab, I tap a global network of vetted OEM partners—serving tier-1 automotive, household-name consumer electronics, and leading medical-device manufacturers—to deliver the exact production platform your project demands.

My mission:

Cut through the noise. I become your single point of truth, ensuring your part is engineered for the right wavelength, tooling, and production pathway—instead of being shoehorned into whatever a single machine builder happens to sell.
